Jerry has been best friends with Robert since their days at university, but he betrays Robert by having a seven year affair with Robert's wife, Emma. In a fascinating twist, the play begins two years after the end of the affair and moves backwards in time to Jerry and Emma's first kiss. "The wonderful acting gets fine support from the show's designers. Darryl Clement's set brings real elegance into a space that's difficult to design for and to a play that is difficult to tie together into a single look. Adam Lozuk's lighting is beautifully judged, especially in its use of dim pools of illumination to evoke memory. Christopher George has written an evocative musical score." Lawson Taitte, The Dallas Morning News "The play depends on the talents of its cast, and Theatre Britain's production soars on that score. Pounders is sexy and full of nervous energy, while Crawford stands out as a rabbity cuckold. Birch is fluid as always. Director Robin Armstrong smoothly explores the humor that emerges in uncomfortable places. Darryl Clement's set, an angular, jagged creation that looks like the remains of the House of Usher, complements the characters' psychology." Arnold Wayne Jones, Dallas Voice " ...Theatre Britain's cast, British accents perfect to the last syllable, speak the speeches and pause the pauses beautifully." Elaine Liner, Dallas Observer "Darryl Clement's alluring set .... depicts two homes in collision" Mark Lowry, Fort Worth Star-Telegram CAST MUSIC USED IN THIS PRODUCTION NOMINATIONS * Member of Actors' Equity Association |
